Working on a tourist visa is illegal in Indonesia and carries serious penalties.

KITAS is typically issued with a validity of 6 months or 12 months depending on the type and sponsor. It can be renewed annually and most types can be extended up to a cumulative maximum of 5 years, after which the holder may be eligible to apply for KITAP (Permanent Residence Permit).
